2009 Silver Koala - Photos

I would like to thank lumpOgold for a smooth silver trade experience this week. This was a nice addition to the collection. This is certainly not as pretty as some other silver from the Perth Mint but the background is very cool. I included the witch side only to keep the triptych theme on my flickr page going.

Junk Woody hit my reaction perfectly. Now you see why I have never spent time trying to capture the beauty of that image. Heh-- I've got a couple of earlier year Maples with the much more palatable younger queen version.

Good shot on the Koala though. I've been buying one Koala a year.

Tom, I just enjoyed all 337 photos you have posted. Beautiful work. I must also say that your grandmother is one of most beautiful woman I have ever seen in a vintage photo.

Just for clarification ,I love the young Liz image that was used from 1953-1964 on Canadian coinage.

I don't understand how the Brits can use sexy Britannia on their bullion and then Canada and Australia use the old lady queen!

The modern US Liberty is quite the Amazon herself, and in the past she was quite pleasing to the eye.

Thanks-----

My grandmother had a rare serenity that is captured in that shot, hard to define. If you saw my thread of around a month ago where I had found a letter my dad had written from a hospital bed after getting shot up in Normandy in 1944, that letter was to her.

I have to say in my short time collecting coins, the Perth Mint stuff has really impressed me. Luckily the Koalas only started in 2007 so I can catch up quick enough, unlike the Kooks and some other sets (Pandas/Britannias) which will take some effort and coin to track down one from each year.

Great pictures BTW.

I dread the portrait that will appear when she passes on...

The Koala is gorgeous. Awesome metalcore pornography.

The Queen is a wreck. Even the young one looks inbred. Oh wait.... the Royalty IS inbred, isn't it?
